Mini K

“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”

Mini K has had a lot going on the last few weeks and I feel like over the last couple of months she’s just grown up!

She’s just started reading the Harry Potter books and she received a certificate in assembly for her writing skills! Her teacher is so impressed with her.

And Little M… well he’s just gotten a Jumper and absolutely loves it and his big sister got him a Dinosaur – she’d seen this when I was pregnant but I kept forgetting to order it until the other day!

Top 10 Baby Buys…

I’d thought I’d do my top 10 favourite baby buys that I’ve got. These are things I use daily and absolutely love!

In no particular order;

  1. Sleepyhead Deluxe: £110
You can read my review here.
I absolutely love this and Little M is so snuggly in it. I’m definitely getting the Grand one next month.
  2. Tommy Tippee Perfect Prep Machine: £125 / however always on offer for around £50/£60
I don’t know how I managed to do night feeds with Mini K without this machine. It’s so straight forward and easy to use. I got this machine on offer for £50 off Amazon and it is 100% worth the money. We have the black one and have it set up in our bedroom.
  3. Shnuggle bath: £24.95
You can read my review here.
The main reason I love this bath is that Little M can sit up and is supported. He likes to see whats going on so absolutely loves chilling in his wee bath!
  4. Teether; Sophie the Giraffe, Pip & Matchstick Monkey : £10 – £20
You can read my review on Pip here.
I will also be doing a review on the Matchstick Monkey next week.
These teethers are great because they are very easy for little hands to hold. I love the look of them too and they can all be attached to dummy clips so they are perfect for out and about too!
  5. Beaba babycook: £70
This is the one I used with Mini K and I’m so glad I kept hold of it!
It steams food in 10mins and then you just need to blend it together. So easy and straightforward to use plus it looks smart and is easy to clean.
  6. Ikea highchair: £13
With Mini K I had one of those big fancy highchairs that were padded, reclined and could turn into a chair… it was a nightmare to clean.
This highchair is amazing and such a steal! I got this for Little M and absolutely love it, I also got the padded seat bit to go in it as extra support for him with is £6.
It is so easy to clean and looks modern and smart.
  7. Ingenuity Cozy Kingdom Baby swing: £70 / however often on sale for around £50
This swing is great, it has different speed settings, the music it plays isn’t too bad and Little M loves to chill out in it.
  8. Philips Avent bath thermometer: £18 / often on sale for around £10
When I was pregnant Avent sent me a wee package and this was in it. I love having this for checking Little M’s bath temperature. It’s so handy. I definitely recommend getting one.
  9. Mamas & Papas Octopus playmat: £60
You can read my review here.
Such a good playmat, so many different things to feel and do with it and it will last for ages. It’s very easily cleaned and Little M has had countless hours of fun with this.
  10. Skip Hop Dash Signature Chevron Nappy Bag: £60
This nappy bag is great because it has pram clips so theres no need for a big strap or the bag to keep slipping down. There is also so many pockets and is perfect for fitting all of the babies stuff in, plus my purse and a few of Mini K’s bits in.

So there you go, a few of my top fave buys!

What were you must have things?

Also, is there anything I’ve mentioned that you’d like me to write it’s own review on?

“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”

This weekend Little M figured out he could catch things in-between his toes!

Only child… no more

Since Little M was born Mini K has became very attitudey (not a word, I know) towards me.

Now don’t get me wrong, she absolutely loves her little brother. She plays with him, sings to him and reads him stories… but Mini K’s relationship with me has changed.

When I was pregnant with Little M I tried to prepare her the best I could. We would lie in bed each night and talk about how  we were feeling welcoming a new member to the family and we would explain why we were feeling that way. But of course, and I’m not stupid, no amount of conversation could prepare her for the amount of change that would be happening.

As many of you know, I was 18 when I found out I was pregnant with her and 19 by the time I had her.

I was terrified.

I was so scared about her being born and me not knowing what to do. So scared of the unknown.

Labour was quick with Mini K and the minute I held her I didn’t know how to feel – my emotions were all over the shot.

But, I knew no matter what, it was me and her and I’d do anything  for her.

Since Mini K was born, everything I have done has been to protect and to give her the best life possible.

Without Mini K, who knows where I’d be right now… in fact, who knows if I’d be alive right now.

I was on a very dark slippery path.

I love my daughter so much.

She’s 6 years old and has just became a sister. She is no longer the only child…

As much as she has embraced being a big sister, and is an amazing big sister, she’s struggled with it too.

She’s started giving me quite a bit of attitude and constantly answering me back and being cheeky for no reason so I questioned her on this last week…

Her answer broke my heart but me and C had talked about this and knew this was why she was acting out…

Mini K told me that she felt me and her weren’t close anymore. She said I spent all my time with Little M and that she felt I had no time for her and that I was too tired all the time so she didn’t want to tell me how  she was feeling and she didn’t want to make me upset.

When she explained all of this to me, I tried to hold in my tears but I couldn’t. This girl means the world to me and we are so brutally honest with each other that it broke my heart that she kept this bottled up.

That night we lay in her bed and talked for ages. I told her how sorry I was our relationship had changed but it didn’t mean my love for her had changed.

This little girl will never know how special she is to us.

But, I told her that night that she is my superhero because she saved my life – and one day I can’t wait to explain to her how.

I love you Mini K, more than words could ever explain.

Easter Holidays

I’ve been awful at blogging over the Easter Holidays.

But, whilst I’ve not been blogging I’ve been spending some much needed family time (and of course Instagram has been busy!)

Mini K has been off school for 2 weeks, the first week was quite chilled and we made a start on redecorating the living room. But the second week we decided to make a list of what we were going to do each day.

So, Monday we went to Kelvingrove Art Gallery, which shockingly we hadn’t been to before. It was a great day out. Mini K loved it! She was running round looking at the art and couldn’t get over how the paintings were and then the stuffed animals and bones – she loves bones!

Tuesday – we had an arts & crafts day at home. Mini K is so creative and would sit for hours drawing and making things.

Wednesday – we went a big walk and went for ice cream

Thursday – we were going to do another museum in Glasgow but Mini K really wanted to go back to Kelvingrove so C took her there whilst myself and Little M stayed home and tidied the house a bit and I popped out to get the Easter Eggs!

Friday – I was getting my nails done at Swoon and my sister and her wee Cub was coming too so we popped into town got our nails done and then went for coffee and when we got home watched The Amazing Spiderman 2 (Mini K loves anything to do with superheros)

Saturday – Mini K got a donut maker for Christmas and shockingly we still hadn’t used it so we popped to the shops to get what we needed and made some yummy donuts and then chilled out and watched a movie at night.

Sunday – C’s sister was over from Canada so we went down to his mums to see them and have an amazing roast beef dinner.

Monday (Today) – we are going to pop out for lunch because tomorrow is my birthday and Mini K is back to school, which she was very upset about the fact that she had to go back on my birthday!

So there we go, a busy few weeks but it’s been great to spend time with my Mini K.

“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”

Mini K is obsessed with this dog snap chat filter!
I took her shopping on Monday after school to get her new school shoes as she’s out grown her other ones – she’s going through such a growth spurt just now.

I had picked her up a pair of hot pink high top converse for her birthday, which isn’t until July but I’m trying to buy one a thing a month, turns out her feet are growing  a lot too so I ended up giving them to her on Wednesday after her school showcase because I was worried they wouldn’t fit by July!

Her school Showcase was amazing, it was all about France and she spoke so confidently up on the stage. I’m so proud of her. She asked me for advice on public speaking because she knows I’ve done a lot of it through work.

As for Little M, he’s been very clingy this week and also appears to be going through a growth spurt.
He’s also biting everything, but no sign of teething yet. He was weighed and checked over on Wednesday from the Health Visitor and she’s said she won’t be back out now until he’s just turned 1!

we had little bursts of sun last week so I got Little M some new sunglasses which he was very happy about and also got him a new toy that he can bite and he loves it!

“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”

I love these little boomerang clips of Mini K!

We had a busy weekend, Friday Mini K went to see Beauty & The Beast with C – I feel Little M is still too young for the cinema so we went and got my nails done at Swoon.

Then Saturday we were out for lunch for my brothers 30th Birthday and Sunday Mini K had a birthday party to go to!

Today I’d planned on starting to strip the wallpaper in the living room but I’ve ended up having quite a lazy day and catching up on house work.

This week’s Livinig Arrows post is also celebrating the birth of my nephew, Cub. Above are photos of him with Mini K at 3 days old and Little M at 4 days old.
I’m so proud of my big sister and I know her and her husband are going to be amazing parents.
It’s funny the feeling you get when you become an Aunt, I instantly felt love for this little dude and I hadn’t even met him. I cannot wait for Little M and Cub to grow up together.
PS. Can you believe there is only 11 weeks between Little M & Cub?!
