I have been nominated!

Hi everyone, got some exciting news for you all!

I was in Glasgow yesterday seeing Lisa from the Prince’s Trust because last week she’d emailed asking me to come in for a meeting for some ‘good news’ – so for a whole week I was wondering what she was wanting to tell me!

I’ll just get straight to the point… Lisa has chosen 4 people she would like to nominate for an award and I am one of them! I was not expecting that news at all but I am so excited!!

So yesterday we filled out the necessary forms, I had to tell my whole life story: my past; what I was like before the Prince’s Trust; before I changed my life around; then talk about how I feel the Prince’s Trust has helped me and of course talk about my business and my plans for it and how it is going just now etc. I then had to get my picture taken (hope no one has to see that lol) and include a business card.

I then had the opportunity to nominate someone who I felt has helped me in the Prince’s Trust, I have been helped by so many wonderful foundations and the people that work for them! I was torn between nominating Firstport (who have given me some funding) or Virginia (my assigned mentor) but in the end I chose Lisa.

Lisa runs the Exploring Enterprise programmes; a 4 day course to help start up a business. I chose Lisa because she is very approachable, if I feel I need help with something I feel like I can ask her – no matter how daft the question might seem! I also feel that Lisa has encouraged me a lot with my business, when I first went to her with my idea I thought that everyone would think it was daft and that people might laugh, but Lisa made me feel so much more confident in what I was doing and that it wasn’t a stupid idea.

I love the Prince’s Trust! I’ve not a bad word to say about them! I’d strongly advise anyone who wants to get help with a new business to go on their course.

You definitely deserved to be nominated and congratulations on being shortlisted for the Enterprise Award. The Awards Ceremony in November will be great.
